Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra

Opened in April 1998 and extended in 2002 and then in 2006 the Diocesan Museum of Lamezia Terme, which is headquartered in the Episcopal Seminary Minor, collects artistic works from the territories that fell in the jurisdictions of bishoprics of Nicastro and Martirano. The latter suppressed by Papal bull of Pius VII (De Utiliori, 1818) unifying the two dioceses under the title of Dioecesis Neocastrensins. Among the many historical evidences it is to be reported, in addition to seven-ottocentesci liturgical vestments, reliquaries arms of St. John the Baptist and St. Stephen s Proto Martyr (both of XIV century), the painted ivory casket (XII century) of Arab-Sicilian school; Sculpture of the Madonna delle Grazie, fifteenth sculpture by Domenico Gaggini and numerous paintings and sculptures by local artists of the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

The museum opened to the public from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 16.00 to 19.00 offers, through a guided tour, an interesting journey through the history and faith of lametino territory, due to which one can better understand the path that has been allowed behind in order to build a more conscious future.
